Text Messages Spreads about Criminals in Nothern Cebu goes viral and made residents in Bantayan Island, San Remegio, Medellin, Madridejos, Daanbantayan and Sta. Fe panic and worried. Text messages spreads saying criminals and escapees from Tacloban City now in Cebu who Raped, Killed and Harassed people in Northern part. But officials said that all this text messages are NOT TRUE.
STATEMENT OF PSSUPT NOEL A. GILLAMAC, Provincial Director, Cebu Provincial Police Office on rumors of criminals from Tacloban now in Cebu:
This is to refute some reports regarding presence of armed men on board a pumpboat in the seawaters of the north area like Daanbantayan, San Remigio, Medellin, Madridejos, Sta. Fe and Bantayan especially of their respective islets. The reports also state that subjects are believed to be criminals from Tacloban who conduct criminal activities like rape, killing, harassments and the like. These reports were responded and verified by our PNP personnel and were proven to be BASELESS and UNTRUE. I would like to assure the public that the PNP personnel and the CPPO are on top of the situation and will not allow such things to happen in our area of responsibility. I would like to appeal also that if you receive text messages like these, please do not pass it on to avoid creating fear and panic which could add up to the misery of typhoon victims.
