A powerful earthquake, initially reported around Magnitude 8.7, struck off the coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula today, Wednesday, July 30, 2025. It was follower by series of Tsunami in different places like Russia and Japan.
The quake was centered southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky and was shallow, increasing its potential to generate a tsunami. Tsunami warnings and advisories have been issued for regions across the Pacific, including Russia, Japan, Guam, Hawaii, and parts of Alaska's Aleutian Islands.
While initial reports indicate no major damage or casualties in Russia, emergency protocols have been activated, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation. A kindergarten was reported to be damaged in Kamchatka, and an evacuation order was declared for the small town of Severo-Kurilsk in the Sakhalin region due to the tsunami warning.
Several Tsunami alerts have been issued in different country like Japan, Hawaii and the Philippines. After several minutes, tsunami hit Russia follower by Japan.
