Philippines Declares March 20 Eid’l Fitr Holiday Nationwide

Malacañang declared Friday, March 20, 2026, a regular paid holiday to mark Eid’l Fitr, the Festival of Breaking the Fast that ends Ramadan's month of prayer, reflection, and fasting.

The announcement came during a Palace event where President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. greeted Filipino Muslims, who make up about 6% of the population mostly in Mindanao, and reaffirmed government respect for their traditions under Republic Act 9177.

Filipinos expressed excitement over the long weekend, sharing plans for family gatherings and celebrations.
