𝗠𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼 𝗖𝗲𝗯𝘂 𝗔𝗶𝗿 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 ‘𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗨𝗻𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆’ 𝗟𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝗔𝗤𝗜 𝗖𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗯𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝟭𝟱𝟴

 Metro Cebu air quality has worsened again, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching 158 on Monday morning, September 7, placing the area under the “Very Unhealthy” category amid continuing haze across parts of the region.

The latest reading, recorded at 7:00 a.m. on September 7, showed a significant increase from the previous AQI of 136, which was classified as “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.”

The Environmental Management Bureau Region VII (EMB-7) continues to monitor air quality in Metro Cebu and other areas of Central Visayas to determine the extent of the haze and its potential impact on public health.

Meanwhile, the EMB-7 monitoring station in Barangay Cabitoonan, Toledo City continued to register Good air quality, with an AQI of 45, slightly better than its previous reading of 47.

What Does Very Unhealthy Air Quality Mean?

With Metro Cebu's AQI now at 158, residents are advised to take precautions, particularly those who may be more vulnerable to the effects of poor air quality.

Residents are encouraged to stay indoors when possible and avoid or postpone strenuous outdoor activities and exercise while the very unhealthy air quality persists.

People who need to go outdoors are advised to wear a well-fitting N95 or KN95 mask. Children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and people with existing heart or lung conditions should take extra precautions and consider remaining indoors.

The public is encouraged to continue monitoring the latest official air quality advisories from EMB Region VII as authorities track the haze affecting Metro Cebu and other parts of Central Visayas.
